Lesser Known Anti-Aging Tips

Okay, okay, we’ve heard it a million times. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize and make sure to wear sunscreen—even on cloudy days! These anti-aging tips are as old as the hills. But are there other things we can be doing to maintain a youthful glow? In fact, there are.

Sleeping on a smooth silk pillowcase helps to prevent wrinkles. So does sleeping on your back (as opposed to sleeping on your side, which increases wrinkles on the cheeks and chin, or sleeping face down, which gives you a furrowed brow).

When you apply moisturizers, serums, masks and cleansers, do you stop at the jawline? Most people do—but you shouldn’t! Bring those facial products down your neck as well. Why? Because the neck is one of the easiest ways to see someone’s real age. (If you don’t believe it, look at someone who’s had a facelift but has left their neck to sag and age. It’s not a pretty sight!) For a specific neck-firming treatment, try Osmotics Necolleté Age Reversal for Neck & Chest.

Don’t squint… get reading glasses instead! Maybe you think you’re too young for reading glasses, but it’s better than getting permanent wrinkles around your eyes. The fact is that any repetitive facial movement, like squinting, overworks facial muscles and forms a groove that will eventually become a wrinkle. So nip that wrinkle in the bud with a chic pair of readers!

I have Hashimoto’s Hypothyroidism. i cannot lose weight for anything. I have tried them all. Please help!

Alison, I too have Hashi Motos and understand exactly how you feel. I have been dealing with the same condition for twenty years. I had always been very tiny and then all of a sudden I was gaining weight out of control. At that point you have already put on pounds before you even know why. I know you feel very discouraged and depression goes with the disease. My suggestion is to keep lots of bottled water and low fat and low sugar foods and drinks only in the house. Exercise is also very important. Eat salads …fresh fruits and veggies which are very plentiful this time of the year. And if you are no longer buying chips, cookies and other fatty and sweet stuffs, you will have new found money to buy what I call my exotics like raspberries , raspberries, blackberries and blue berries. Don’t forget bananas, papayas, mangos, nectarines, pineapples, etc. before you start gorging on all this good healthy make sure you are familiar with the sugar, calorie and carb counts so you can eat all this good stung sensibly. We’ve had some great asparagus, cauliflower, and corn. Corn is high in starch so be careful of these hidden carbs.
It’s a slow trip back to a weight you are comfortable with and understand that you shouldn’t set unreasonable goals. Work with your doctor and take it slow. You have to enjoy life in the meantime. Get up in the morning and after you have showered, put on a little make-up and dress in nice clothes. This alone will make you feel better. If you feel like binging, grab your purse and car keys and go visiting or shopping . Put some distance between you and the food! Good Luck!

Thanks for the tips! Now that I’m over forty years young, I don’t look as youthful as I used to in my twenties. I want to do something to make myself appear almost as young as I used to in my late twenties. I’ve never heard of a few of these beauty tips. It’s interesting that sleeping on a smooth silk pillowcase will help to prevent wrinkles, as well as sleeping on my back. I’m a side sleeper, so perhaps it’s time for me to become a back sleeper so that I won’t get anymore wrinkles.
