Fall Fashion Week was bursting at the seams this year with fun new makeup trends. From colorful cat eyes to wine lips the makeup this season is anything but boring. Here are a few of the fall trends that you can recreate in a wearable, sophisticated way.
Wine lips – One of the most wearable trends for fall 2013 is wine lips, from Vera Wang to Fendi this trend was one of the most noticeable of all makeup trends at fashion week. If you are someone who loves to accentuate your lips you may choose to stick with the bolder version. You can create a deep matte wine lip by first lining and filling in your lips using the Crimson Lip Pencil then applying Rose PureMoist Lipstick.
If you are looking for a sheerer version of the wine lip try Venice Just Kissed Lip Plumper.
Bold lips – The bold lip trend was around for spring and it isn’t going anywhere this fall. When creating this look be sure to keep your eyes a more neutral color. Sticking with soft colors like the Daytime Eyeshadow Kit, goWarm Eye Steppes or Sweet Spot Eyeshadow Triple will help keep the focus on your lips even if you are more conservative with your lip color choices. The great thing about lipstick is that you can take one from a sheerer splash of color to a deep pop of color by just adding a Lip Pencil.
Here are some of our favorite “splash of color” Lipsticks and the Lip Pencil you can pair with them for a more bold pop of color look.
Ashley: A creamy matte, neutral terracotta lipstick. Pair with Terracotta Lip Pencil for a deep terracotta lip.
Renee: A creamy matte, bubblegum pink lipstick. Pair with Pink Lip Pencil for a deep fuchsia lip.
Rose: A creamy matte, light merlot lipstick. Pair with Rose Lip Pencil for a deep Rose lip.
Lilly: A sheer pink, coral lipstick. Pair with Crimson Lip Pencil for a cranberry red lip.
The colorful cat eye – From Jason Wu to Christian Dior we saw this bright colored cat eye all over the runway at fashion week. Bold and daring it brings a fun pop of color to a more neutral fall outfit. This cat eye is achieved by choosing a bright colored liner and applying a thick line to your top lashes, extending to the middle of your eyelid or up to your crease, and then outward slightly to create a winged cat eye. As fun as this look is for the runway, it isn’t as practical for the office. Try this modification for a softer but still on trend look.
Start by applying Allure Eyeshadow to your eyelid using the Deluxe Shader Brush. Apply Taupe Eyeshadow in your crease using the Crease Brush. Line your top lash line with Aquamarine Mystikol using the Angle Definer Brush and slightly extend the line outward to make a winged cat eye. Apply PureLash Extender & Conditioner to your lashes followed by Black Ice Longest Lash Mascara.
Orange Shimmer Eyes – Neutral makeup was a huge trend for spring, taking it up a notch designers like BCBG and Givenchy brought orange shimmer eyeshadow to the forefront for fall 2013. While shades of orange and red are beautiful for popping blue and green eyes, the bold look of orange eyeshadow may be a little too much for your everyday office look. Here’s an alternative:
Try applying the copper color of Moonglow Quad Bronzer to your eyelid and crease using the Deluxe Shader Brush. Line your top lash line with the Black/Brown Eye Pencil and finish with PureLash Extender & Conditioner followed by Espresso Longest Lash Mascara. This soft alternative still offers a bit of shimmer and is a lovely color choice for blue and green eyes.
Beautiful Skin – Beautiful soft skin is always in, no matter what the season. However, this change in season often brings colder temperatures, dryer skin and the desire for a little more coverage.
