Fall Fashion Week was bursting at the seams this year with fun new makeup trends. From colorful cat eyes to wine lips the makeup this season is anything but boring. Here are a few of the fall trends that you can recreate in a wearable, sophisticated way.

Wine lips – One of the most wearable trends for fall 2013 is wine lips, from Vera Wang to Fendi this trend was one of the most noticeable of all makeup trends at fashion week. If you are someone who loves to accentuate your lips you may choose to stick with the bolder version. You can create a deep matte wine lip by first lining and filling in your lips using the Crimson Lip Pencil then applying Rose PureMoist Lipstick.

If you are looking for a sheerer version of the wine lip try Venice Just Kissed Lip Plumper.

Sheer Wine LipsBold lips – The bold lip trend was around for spring and it isn’t going anywhere this fall. When creating this look be sure to keep your eyes a more neutral color. Sticking with soft colors like the Daytime Eyeshadow Kit, goWarm Eye Steppes or Sweet Spot Eyeshadow Triple will help keep the focus on your lips even if you are more conservative with your lip color choices. The great thing about lipstick is that you can take one from a sheerer splash of color to a deep pop of color by just adding a Lip Pencil.

Here are some of our favorite “splash of color” Lipsticks and the Lip Pencil you can pair with them for a more bold pop of color look.

Ashley: A creamy matte, neutral terracotta lipstick. Pair with Terracotta Lip Pencil for a deep terracotta lip.

Renee: A creamy matte, bubblegum pink lipstick. Pair with Pink Lip Pencil for a deep fuchsia lip.

Rose: A creamy matte, light merlot lipstick. Pair with Rose Lip Pencil for a deep Rose lip.

Lilly: A sheer pink, coral lipstick. Pair with Crimson Lip Pencil for a cranberry red lip.

The colorful cat eye – From Jason Wu to Christian Dior we saw this bright colored cat eye all over the runway at fashion week. Bold and daring it brings a fun pop of color to a more neutral fall outfit. This cat eye is achieved by choosing a bright colored liner and applying a thick line to your top lashes, extending to the middle of your eyelid or up to your crease, and then outward slightly to create a winged cat eye. As fun as this look is for the runway, it isn’t as practical for the office. Try this modification for a softer but still on trend look.

Cat EyeStart by applying Allure Eyeshadow to your eyelid using the Deluxe Shader Brush. Apply Taupe Eyeshadow in your crease using the Crease Brush. Line your top lash line with Aquamarine Mystikol using the Angle Definer Brush and slightly extend the line outward to make a winged cat eye. Apply PureLash Extender & Conditioner to your lashes followed by Black Ice Longest Lash Mascara.

Cat EyeYou are still getting a bold pop of color on your eyes and working the colorful cat eye trend, but you are doing so in a much softer sophisticated way that is appropriate for both day and night.

Orange Shimmer Eyes – Neutral makeup was a huge trend for spring, taking it up a notch designers like BCBG and Givenchy brought orange shimmer eyeshadow to the forefront for fall 2013. While shades of orange and red are beautiful for popping blue and green eyes, the bold look of orange eyeshadow may be a little too much for your everyday office look. Here’s an alternative:

Orange Shimmer EyesTry applying the copper color of Moonglow Quad Bronzer to your eyelid and crease using the Deluxe Shader Brush. Line your top lash line with the Black/Brown Eye Pencil and finish with PureLash Extender & Conditioner followed by Espresso Longest Lash Mascara. This soft alternative still offers a bit of shimmer and is a lovely color choice for blue and green eyes.

Orange Shimmer EyesBeautiful Skin – Beautiful soft skin is always in, no matter what the season. However, this change in season often brings colder temperatures, dryer skin and the desire for a little more coverage. No worries, we have the answer! Smooth Affair Facial Primer is a lovely addition to your skin care and makeup routine throughout the year. This primer has anti-aging properties that even skintone, minimize pores, increase luminosity and moisturize; it can also help to keep your makeup lasting longer. Follow your Smooth Affair Application with Glow Time Full Coverage BB Cream. Glow Time covers blemishes, minimizes pores, disguises wrinkles and smooths and brightens skin. A little goes a very long way so start with a pea size amount and add more if you need it.

    Dear Paula,

Thank you for your thoughtful questions. We love hearing from our customers! Stains are still very much ‘in’, as they really are timeless and can be a great base layer for either matte lip or a glossy one. They are wonderful for lasting color that stays put. Our beauty team came up with a couple of recommendations for you.

Jane Iredale Just Kissed Lip & Cheek Stain is their first suggestion. The great thing about this stain is that it adjusts to your individual body chemistry, taking the guess work out of choosing the right shade. They also recommend Kevyn Aucoin’s Fleshtone lip pencils. They have immense staying power and will help keep lip color in place beautifully. Unfortunately, the product you mentioned by Jane Aredale for Breast Cancer Awareness was for a limited time only. Let us know if the suggestions our beauty team provided help fill the void.

As always, thank you for your comments and questions! It really helps us improve our product lines.

    Sincerely,

    Dear Sheila,

We are sincerely sorry to hear of your cancer battle. Our thoughts are with you! It’s important for you to keep your spirits up in any way possible. Your beauty routine is one way you can elevate your mood, and hopefully your countenance. Our beauty team recommends a couple of products that we believe will give you a little lift.

The Wunderbrow is great for lasting brows. It’s easy to apply and natural looking. Jane Iredale’s Glow Time will help give you a sparkle with excellent coverage . Also, our customers have told us that Osmotics Blue Copper 5 collection gives those going through cancer treatment a beautiful radiance .

We hope this raises your spirit in some small way. Blessings to you as you journey through this challenging time!

    Sincerely,

I am 80, I do not like the bold color or cat eyes, perhaps due to my age. I am still a pretty woman, take a great deal of pride in my face especially. I do like color, enough to show and brighten your face, eyes and lips. I have many clothes from soft surroundings, have not ordered cosmetics. however I have seen two types products I will order for my hair,my hair is long and still beautiful. thank you for having so many useful products.

I’m a cancer patient . What can I do to cover things up and have a healthy glow?
I’m not going to be beautiful anymore but I want to look better!
    I am over 50.

My aesthetician tells me not to wear lip liner with my Jane Iredale lip stain and gloss sticks. She says lip liner is “out” but the lips above are designed with lip pencil and lipstick. Are the stains “out” now? I’m 50+ and need something that doesn’t bleed into lip creases/lines. Also, I loved the pink stain that was promoted for breast cancer awareness but now I can’t find it, I have been told it was for a limited time only. A soft pink is missing from the stain collection. Help me be in style, it gets more difficult to keep up as you get more mature (aka: old).
    Thank you!
