Who has most inspired your fashion sense?
I’m a child of the 40s, 50s. I grew up being taught by my very fashionable mother to stick with comfort and classic styles–not fads.
What one fashion rule do you always abide by?
Comfort and modesty never go out of style.
What article of clothing is at the top of your shopping list?
Comfortable tunic tops for fall and winter. Fabrics with enough weight to skim and flatter my 72-yr-old body.
Describe what’s in your travel beauty bag.
My cosmetics, plus my curling iron, night cream (moisturizer) and wrinkle cream. Oh, and my razor.
The best beauty advice I ever received was. . . .
“Be yourself, and learn to be the best you can be, all the time.” My mother taught me never to go anywhere without makeup.
Name your favorite perfume or signature scent.
How do you unwind?
I read or watch Frasier reruns!
Where is your favorite place to travel?
England and the area around our home in Minnesota.
Do you have a passion project or favorite hobby?
I write inspirational books. Five so far.
Describe the most memorable gift you’ve ever received.
The head of the Bookseller’s Assn. gave me a copy of his latest bestseller as a thank-you for what I had done (I thought nobody knew) for the world of inspirational publishing. He did this in a very public way. I was surprised and astonished.
How has your style evolved over the years?
I almost never wear skirts or dresses anymore. I’m more casual than I was years ago. I stick with styles that mix and match, in black, navy, red, purple. I keep jewelry simple and real.
One item I never leave the house without is. . . . .
