Just turned 70 years young and I don’t see myself as an “older woman” although I know I am. I take care of myself and my skin but lately, I feel my wardrobe screams “old lady” and I don’t want that! I feel I’m not buying right — any suggestions?

      Dear Carolyn,

We hear your concern! Dressing appropriately without aging yourself is one of the reasons we are here today! We believe that you can look good at any age and dress beautifully without sacrificing comfort. This would be a great topic for a future blog post. For now, we would like to suggest a few quick tips.

First, choose colors that look best on you. Your colors may have changed from when you were younger, especially if you have allowed your hair to go gray.

Second, make sure you wear clothes that are your current size. Let’s face it, our weight may fluctuate and fit is important.

Finally, keep your wardrobe current. Select new pieces each season and cycle out others that fail to make you feel modern and current. If you feel good in your clothes, your countenance will show it.

For more fashion advice, visit one of our Soft Surroundings stores and our sales team would be happy to help you revamp your wardrobe.

      Sincerely,

      Soft Surroundings

Please take me off your mailing list and email account. I was treated so poorly with employees “stretching” the truth and I picked a popular item so that’s why it was late. I am returning the item as I said because they said I couldn’t cancel the order. I knew it was back ordered that was ok ” popular” item gave me a date. Ok missed one event it would still work. Than I called and they gave me another date ok now I’ve missed 2 weekends I wanted to take it on. Promised with the next date no show I said I wanted to cancel no because they charged me yesterday and it was shipped out YESTERDAY! Needless to say I bought another item from JJill. Actually several and if it’s back ordered the window of 3-5 days it comes on time. Thank you.

God forbid any of us should age! What a demoralizing article…blaming the woman for aging. Not cool SS! Please post articles on accepting and embracing aging, not shaming women in how to avoid it.
