1. How do you describe your brand philosophy in a nutshell?

Dr. Amarte

Craig Kraffert, M.D., President of Amarte Skin Care
The best Eastern skin care ingredients and formulations fused with the advancements of Western dermatology and science for results-oriented products that are fast, effective and luxurious. We create products containing patented botanicals such as Ginkgo Nut, Mushroom and Skullcap along with encapsulated Retinol, Sulfur and Arbutin to calm, brighten, tighten, smooth and refine in systems that add a dose of decadence to your daily life.

Dr. Freidman

Robert J. Friedman, M.D., M.Sc., Founder of MDSolarSciences™ Skin Care
I started MDSolarSciencesTM because I wanted to make a difference. As a dermatologist, it was a constant battle to get my patients to protect themselves from the sun. They just couldn’t find anything they liked. Eventually, I realized they were right. I needed to do better. So I set out to create Sun Care and Sun Repair products that people would actually want to wear. The result was MDSolarSciencesTM.

Dr. Murad

Howard Murad, M.D., Founder of Murad Skin Care
Murad’s mission is to provide the best skin care products and solutions to optimize skin health and build youth, so you can look better, live better & feel better… every day.

Nicholas Perricone, M.D., Founder of Perricone MD Skin Care
All of our anti-inflammatory, antioxidant topicals are based on my own decades of research and the formulas consist of my own researched and patented technology. My goal was to create a brand that was solely based on science and efficacy as opposed to marketing, packaging and advertising. I look for substances that are antioxidants, which are nature’s anti-inflammatories to decrease inflammation and resolve many of the signs of aging skin.

Dr. Becca

Rebecca Booth, M.D., Founder of VENeffect
VENeffect was designed by women – for women – with optimal hormonal balance in mind. Numerous factors affect the way we look and feel each day – with shifts and changes in hormones playing a major role. VENeffect helps to reduce the signs of aging, including the fine lines, wrinkles and loss of skin tone, with a potent technology from the plant world: phytoestrogens. These amazing molecules inspire collagen, elastin and the glow of healthy skin, the way it was meant to happen, naturally. The result? Luminous skin at peak vitality!

2. What is the one product in your line women can’t live without and why?

Dr. Kraffert: Amarte Natural Finish BB Cream is the genuine gold standard for BB Cream. Because even the perfect complexion looks better with a hint of sheer tint, BB Cream is a must-have for all women.

Dr. Booth: Our Intensive Moisturizer is what my sister and Co-Founder Cecil Booth refers to as her “desert island” product and I couldn’t agree more. We packed the highest level of our phytoestrogen technology into this day-and-night moisturizer that keeps skin dewy and luminous all day long!

3. What is your philosophy on aging?

Dr. Friedman: MDSolarSciencesTM is all about Sun Care and Sun Repair. We think the two go hand in hand. You’re always aging, but the Sun accelerates that process. We want to give you the products to protect your skin, while also repairing the visible signs of aging. That’s how we help people have the healthiest skin possible.

Dr. Booth: My philosophy on aging is to truly understand the way we shift and change as women, and share with my patients, friends and clients how to live better in that knowledge. We are designed as women to reflect our fertility status in our outer appearance, with peaking estrogen and a corresponding peak in collagen around ages 25-27. As we approach what I call “programmed ovarian retirement” around age 50, we see significant changes in the quality of our skin, among other changes. What Mother Nature didn’t realize is that we would cleverly learn to live well into our 80s and 90s. It is the quality of those years that are at stake and VENeffect was developed to help us achieve that “Venus Effect”, in our thirties, forties and well beyond our fifties!

4. What one skin care tip do you feel is most important for women to remember?

Dr. Murad: Eat your water and your sunscreen. Yes, that’s right – eat your water and eat your sunscreen! Most women understand that applying the right topical products is essential to achieve a radiant and glowing complexion. But what they don’t realize is that what they are eating has a profound effect on their overall appearance, as well. When you feed your body the nutrients it needs to function, it helps you to feel better and when you feel better, you look better. It is a continuous cycle. Incorporating lots of water-rich foods into your diet like celery, watermelon and pomegranates will give your diet a boost in nutritional value but will also hydrate you from the inside out. This is because there is water in the structure of the food so as your body is digesting, it releases a slow stream of hydration into your body, leaving your skin looking beautiful and your body feeling beautiful also.

To boost the efficacy of topical sunscreen, arm yourself with nutrients that can protect from the inside out. Pomegranates are a great source of ellagic acid, one of nature’s most powerful antioxidants. Pomegranate Extract is both an anti-inflammatory and one of the most effective antioxidants when it comes to sun protection.

Dr. Perricone: Follow the anti-inflammatory diet. Unfortunately, the skin’s ability to replace damaged collagen diminishes with age and by eating a diet containing sugar and high-glycemic carbs. Sun damage, free radicals, some age-related hormonal changes, stress and smoking also contribute to the damage.

I have found that both men and women see significant improvement from regular applications of Vitamin C Ester. As we age, the skin also thins, allowing delicate blood vessels to show. Vitamin C Ester can help give the skin a thicker appearance making these vessels and veins less apparent. Vitamin C Ester is highly stable (unlike Ascorbic Acid, the unstable, irritating and water soluble form of Vitamin C) and will maintain its efficacy over long periods of time.

5. What one piece of advice would you give to every woman?

Dr. Kraffert: Do at least one thing to honor yourself every day. That one thing can be as simple as a nap, walk, 1/2 glass wine, book or peaceful meditation. The key is to take a real moment in time, every day, to honor yourself.

Dr. Friedman: It’s never too late to have beautiful, healthy skin. It’s never too late to protect yourself from future damage. Remember, a broad spectrum sunscreen is the ultimate anti-aging product.
