Fall is the season to fall back in love with denim. While it’s a staple year-round, there’s nothing like finding the perfect pair of jeans to pair with the season’s boots and booties and cozy tops and sweaters.

However, if you’re like us, your relationship with jeans isn’t always so warm and fuzzy. We love finding that perfect pair of jeans but hate having to go through endless fitting rooms to find them!

Luckily for you, we’ve done the legwork so that you can be an instant denim “fit”-ness expert by following these simple tips when it comes to finding the perfect fit for your shape.

Go to Gorgeous Lengths

Looking for a pair of jeans that give you a long and lean look? Opt for a chic, sleek pair like the NYDJ Marilyn Straight Jeans that offer an elongating, straight-leg silhouette. The tailored fit lengthens and slims exactly where you need it so that you’ll look a size smaller, too. See these and more in the Lengthening section on our Solutions in Denim Page.

Get the Skinny

The skinny fit isn’t just for skinny figures – it looks good on most body types, especially curvy figures. Not only do the Yummie Ankle Jeans flatter with their body-skimming fit, but they also banish the dreaded “muffin top.” Double win. See these and more in the Slimming section on our Solutions in Denim Page.

Contour and Highlight

One of the most ingenious developments in jeans is the ability for them to smooth and contour. Our Lower Rise Jeans are made from highly coveted XFIT LYCRA® four-way stretch denim fabric that smooths and shapes while holding its shape wear after wear. See these and more in the Smoothing section on our Solutions in Denim Page.

Go to a Higher Place

The Beija Flor Jennifer Bootcut Jeans are uplifting in both senses of the word. Not only are these eco-friendly, fair trade jeans from Brazil incredibly slimming, they also feature an engineered rear-lift design that noticeably shapes and flatters. See these and more in the Lifting section on our Solutions in Denim Page.

Other Fit Tips:

  • Whether skinny, bootcut, ankle or boyfriend, jeans should have a snug (but still comfortable) fit from the waistline to the knee. If you are considering a style with lots of stretch in the fabric, sizing down will keep them from becoming too baggy.
  • Avoid details on denim that add unwanted bulk to your backside such as faded washes, heavy stitching, and embellishments.
  • Keep in mind that distressing emphasizes areas on the body such as the thighs and rear. In contrast, darker denim washes will slim the silhouette as well as look more sophisticated.
  • The length of your jeans is important when it comes to the types of shoes you’ll be wearing. Make sure to take into account heel height when deciding on inseam length.
