As it starts to get dark earlier and the weather sends us inside for homey warmth, it’s a good time to think about the lamps and lighting that grace your home.
We’ve recently added to our far-reaching and beautiful collection of table lamps. On SoftSurroundings.com, you’ll find styles to suit any décor and amplify the coziness of this season.
Here are a few of our latest finds:
First up is the Madeline Lamp, a stunning mercury glass creation with a textured linen shade. From the antiqued brass finial to the square platform base, it is a sparkling accent in any room. We think it looks especially handsome on a mirrored glass table, an églomisé chest or an intricately carved console.
Of course the primary job of a lamp is to shed light. But an important secondary role is to add artistry and architecture to a room.
Our Villa Carlotta Lamp is a wonderful example. Inspired by an architectural remnant found in a 17th century villa near Lake Como, its steel base boasts the details of a turned piece and is expertly hand-finished by artisans to shine with the patina of a weathered antique. Its elegant pagoda shade is made of linen.
Lean a rich and gorgeous oil painting a little off-center on a console or chest and place the Villa Carlotta to one side next to it. The lamp will illuminate the painting while it adds depth and character to the entire room.
Our Candlestick Buffet Lamp has much of the antique architectural charm of the Villa Carlotta Lamp, but its silhouette is slim and slender (like a candlestick) with a 9″ diameter shade—perfect to slide into place on a narrow entry table or mantel, as well as on the buffet. Singly, or in pairs, this lamp’s whitewashed finish makes it a fit in traditional, ornate and French country décor.
There’s one more lamp we’d like to call your attention to—it’s our Posh Table Lamp. Like the Madeline, it showcases a gorgeous mercury glass base, but in a dramatic gourd shape. Perhaps even more show-stopping is its unique grey linen drum shade. It’s so elegant, and dare we say “posh”, it steals the show. Place it on a dark, distressed wood table for an eye-catching contrast.
We have many more, new lamps for you to peruse on our site. Please take a look and imagine what comfortable, welcoming light they can bring to every room in your winter home.
